As an environmental anthropologist, my research focuses on the social ecology of marine and coastal environments, diverse environmentalisms, and the politics of sustainability. I have worked in the United States and Mozambique for an international conservation organization, and have published work on the socio-economic impacts of environmental policies on coastal communities, the political ecology of disasters, and conservation social science. My most recent research has been conducted in Japan.
